Juvederm Injections
In Carlsbad
You try to drink your recommended daily dose of water, wear sunscreen, eat healthy (or healthy “ish”), get in a little “me” time (a couple of seconds counts, right?), then balance out the stresses of work, kids, school, meals— you name it, you’re busy doing it. Don’t forget that beauty sleep. Whoa! Wait a minute. Where did that little wrinkle here, here, and here come from? Too young to even think about —um…facelift— but what are the alternatives? Keep reading.

Genuine Juvederm

What Is Juvederm?
A family of injectable fillers from Allergan (the makers of Botox), Juvéderm harnesses one of the body’s most important skin-plumbing elements: hyaluronic acid. Naturally found in skin, hyaluronic acid (HA) has a remarkable ability to attract and maintain moisture in skin tissue, holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. With this hyaluronic acid-based filler, Juvederm effectively restores lost volume, enhances facial contours, smooths lines and wrinkles, softens creases, augments lips, and reduces the appearance of indentations caused by acne scars. With a cross-linked formula of connected molecule chains, Juvederm’s synthetic form of hyaluronic acid stays tightly clumped together to slow the absorption rate for long-lasting results. Approved by the FDA in 2006, each Juvederm brand of formulation has its specific bonding properties, concentrations, purpose, and longevity customized to target specific skin problems. Each treatment can be used individually or in conjunction with other Juvederm products.

How Does IT Work?
The most popular dermal filler, Juvederm, is a gel-like substance formulated of synthetic hyaluronic acid, which is a polysaccharide (sugar), that the body naturally produces. Its primary function is to replenish the skin’s nutrients, drawing moisture into the tissues. As we age, the production of hyaluronic acid, elastin, and collagen decreases, causing lines, wrinkles, and hollowed-out features. When injected gently into the skin, Juvederm’s line of dermal fillers work to add volume back to facial tissue, stimulating the production of collagen. To help minimize any discomfort, Juvederm injections contain a small amount of lidocaine to numb the area instantly. If you’re still concerned, we can also apply a topical numbing cream or ice to further numb the area.
During the procedure, we’ll thoroughly cleanse the face and mark the indicated treatment areas. When you’re comfortable, we’ll slowly and delicately inject Juvederm into the areas of concern, massaging it lightly to ensure even distribution. The results are almost immediate and will continue to improve with time as the gel settles in and triggers collagen production. After your Juvederm appointment, you can return to your normal routine. Some patients may experience mild bruising (which can be concealed with makeup) and possible swelling around the injections sites. Over time, the body absorbs the hyaluronic acid and a second treatment should be considered around 9-12 months, sometimes longer, to keep up with the benefits of a more youthful appearance.
What Juvederm's line Does
Juvederm’s line of dermal fillers include Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Volbella, Juvederm Voluma, and Juvederm Vollure, which reduce the signs of aging to restore a refreshed, younger version of you. A quick, non-invasive procedure, Juvederm is an excellent solution for both men and women who suffer from smoker’s lines, smile lines, marionette lines, or lipstick lines; thinning lips; loss of cheek volume; and nasolabial folds. For dramatic, age-defying results associated with a liquid facelift, it’s recommended that patients combine their treatment with Botox or other wrinkle relaxers.
Juvederm Treatment Cost
The cost of Juvederm depends on the amount needed to achieve a patient’s desired results. Juvederm comes pre-loaded in a .08cc syringe with a hologram sticker around the syringe portion and another sticker indicating the lot number and expiration date. We will open the sealed packaging in the treatment room in front of you (so you know it’s genuine Juvéderm) and place the labels in your patient chart. Some patients may need only a fraction of the syringe, while others with deeper lines and folds may need even more. If any product is left over, it can be used to treat other areas of the face. For a better price estimate, it’s best to schedule a free consultation to determine the amount required for your aesthetic goals.

Before & After Juvederm Treatments

We may not be able to slow the hands of time, but we can help with your fountain (or syringe) of youth. Both men and women can enjoy improved skin texture, facial rejuvenation, restore lost volume (even in the lips), and provide a subtle lift. Because hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body, the chance of allergic reaction is minimal. If for some reason, you don't like the results or have a complication (it's never happened in our office), Juvederm can always be dissolved with hyaluronidase, a natural enzyme found in your body.
