Filler treatments typically take about 10 minutes to perform. If you’re planning to correct multiple treatment areas or have an unusual case, you can expect the procedure to take more time.
Most individuals experience mild pain at most. Radiesse is FDA-approved to mix with an anesthetic known as lidocaine. In a clinical study, 90% of patients treated with Radiesse premixed with lidocaine reported a significant reduction in discomfort when injections were administered. We can apply a topical anesthetic to increase your procedure’s comfort further for our more pain-sensitive patients.
You should not apply makeup during the first 24 hours post-treatment. For patients experiencing some bruising, consider using a concealer with a yellow tint, or if you have some redness use a concealer with a greenish-yellow tone.
Radiesse patients can usually return to daily routines after treatment. Many of our patients schedule fillers over their lunch breaks and return to work after. You may experience a little tenderness, mild bruising, or possibly some post-procedure swelling. Gently icing the irritated area can help to decrease any discomfort.
The most common side effects include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching. These generally last for a short period and are mild. Be sure to discuss any potential side effects and treatment risks with your healthcare practitioner if they don’t go away.

Typically, Radiesse filler procedures require little to no downtime. Your clinician will review our post-treatment guidelines to ensure the success of your treatment and your safety. It is common for some patients to experience mild discomfort, swelling, bruising, or tenderness after injections. These symptoms dissipate over the next two weeks.
The human body absorbs hyaluronic acid-based fillers over time. We recommend mini tune-ups called “top-up treatments”; these keep you looking younger year-round. Top-ups are usually scheduled 4–9 months down the road.
Results are seen immediately post-procedure. Because Radiesse mimics your body’s hyaluronic acid production, your body happily conforms to its presence. You can count on leaving our offices looking younger and refreshed.

Radiesse filler is comprised of hyaluronic acid. This acid is naturally generated by your body to support structure, deliver nutrients, retain your skin’s moisture and smoothness.
You should not receive injectable fillers if you have a history of severe allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also avoid filler treatments.
Radiesse fillers are approved to add volume to smile lines, marionette lines, the corners of your mouth, pre-jowl folds, and chin wrinkles. For lip augmentation, consider Juvederm or Restylane products.
