Botox for the Residents of Encinitas, CA
What is Botox?
One of the most immediate and dramatic ways to reduce unwanted lines and wrinkles is through Botox injections. Results of Botox injections are fast and produce a lasting effect that’s gentle and safe, making it one of the most common and preferred non-surgical procedure in the U.S.
Botox is actually Botulinum toxin A, which is a naturally-occurring neurotoxin produced by clostridium botulinum. Clostridium botulinum can be found in lakes, soil, and the intestinal tracks of mammals. Basically, the way Botox works is when it’s injected, it disrupts a chemical messenger called acetylcholine, which is responsible for muscle contraction. Botox relaxes the facial muscles, minimizing lines and wrinkles, and giving our clients a more youthful appearance.
Because Botox can relax facial muscles, it’s also used to treat migraines, TMJ, and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

How Long Before Botox Works
Injecting Botox only takes a matter of minutes and doesn’t require any anesthesia. Our spa-like offices will put you at ease while we use fine needles to insert the Botox into specific muscles, which only has minimal discomfort. Botox injections begin working with your first treatment. It may take up to 48 hours before you notice a difference, but it can take anywhere from 5-10 days following your injections to see the full effects. We recommend if you’re receiving treatment for a special event, that you schedule your treatment at least two weeks ahead of the event to give yourself plenty of time to heal and the Botox time to take full effect.
Botox Before and After
Botox for TMJ Pain
Many of our clients use Botox treatments to help with their TMJ (temporal mandibular joint) pain in the masader muscles. You may be wondering how Botox works for TMJ in the masader muscles, but it makes sense that since Botox
relaxes the facial muscles, it helps with TMJ pain, headaches, and other disorders like teeth grinding or lockjaw.
The temporal mandibular joint connects your jawbone to the skull, acting like a sliding hinge. When people have TMJ disorders, it can cause pain in the jaw and muscles surrounding the jaw that help to control movement.
Botox injections help to relax those muscles, decreasing pain and increasing mouth movement and range.
Botox injections for TMJ pain are shown to be a safe and effective treatment.
You may be wondering ‘how much does Botox cost?’ The answer varies depending on several factors, including how many injections you need and how many sessions are necessary, but treatment can cost anywhere from $500 to $3,000 depending on those varying factors.
