Microneedling, sometimes also referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses tiny needles to stimulate the production of collage and new skin tissue. It is primarily used to remove facial wrinkles, fine lines, large pores, and scars, as well as to smoothen, firm, and tone the overall look of facial skin. In addition, microneedling offers less down time than facial lasers. After microneedling treatment, patients are only red for 24 hours or less.

Did You Know?

Although you can purchase dermal needling rollers, these rollers do not offer the same results as microneedling treatment. Dermal needling rollers lack the vertical motion of microneedling pens and can cause collateral tissue damage, greater discomfort, and inconsistent effects. Microneedling treatments performed by a medical professional uses a specialized microneedling pen that reduces collateral tissue damage, allows for a more comfortable treatment, and has consistent results.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Am I a candidate for microneedling?

You may be a candidate for microneedling if you are in good overall health and are looking for a way to remove facial wrinkles, fine lines, large pores, or scars that haven’t responded to home treatments or dermal peels. However, you may not be the best candidate for microneedling if you are taking certain medications, have psoriasis or eczema, have open wounds, have had recent radiation therapy, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What can I expect when undergoing microneedling treatment?

During your microneedling treatment, you can expect our skincare professionals to gently press and glide the microneedling pen against the skin until the entire treatment area has been covered. The microneedling pen will be fit with a sterile applicator containing anywhere from 12-32 tiny micropoints, depending on the nature of your treatment. A thin layer of Hylauronic acid solution will also be applied to your skin prior to placing the microneedling pen. Depending on your current condition and treatment goals, multiple treatments may be necessary to obtain the desired results.

Is microneedling safe?

Yes. Microneedling is considered a safe, minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment for those in good overall health. However, as with any medical treatment, there are possible side effects. These side effects are generally mild and can include bleeding, bruising, infection, and peeling.
